Wedding dress fitting process

What to Expect

The Fitting Process

From your first consultation to wedding-day pickup.

Collaborative

Every Alteration Is a Conversation

At each step, I ask: "Do you like this? This way or that? How does it feel?" The dress should reflect exactly who you are — and the only way to get there is together.

Step by Step

The Wedding Dress Alterations Process

01

Initial Consultation

We'll go over your dress together. You'll try it on, we'll discuss what work it needs, and I'll walk you through every option. This is also when you'll sign the contract and pay the $200 deposit. For out-of-town brides, this can sometimes be combined with the first fitting.

02

Fittings Begin (~3 Months Out)

Hands-on alteration work typically begins about 3 months before your wedding. At each fitting, I ask along the way — this way or that? How does it feel? — until the dress reflects exactly what you want.

03

Three Additional Fittings

Generally a bride has the initial consultation plus 3 additional fittings. For brides traveling from out of town, I combine appointments to minimize the number of trips you need to make.

04

Final Fitting (~2 Weeks Before)

Your final fitting is approximately 2 weeks before your wedding. The final payment is due at this appointment.

05

Steamed Pickup — Wedding Week or Wedding Day

Your gown is steamed so it's wrinkle-free and ready to go. Pickup can be arranged during the week of your wedding or on your wedding day itself. I'll walk you through proper hanging and storage so it stays perfect.

Before You Book

When to Reach Out

Have your date and venue

Most brides reach out once they have a wedding date and venue confirmed.

Book early

I stay consistently busy and sometimes book over a year in advance. The sooner you reach out, the better chance you have of getting on my calendar for your preferred timeline.

Have your dress

If you haven't bought your dress yet, that's fine — but most fitting work begins once you have the gown in hand.

Traveling From Out of Town?

I'll Combine Your Fittings

Brides regularly travel from Spokane, Ellensburg, Pullman, Boise, Joseph (Oregon), San Francisco, Seattle, and other areas. For brides traveling from out of town, I combine appointments to minimize the number of trips you need to make.
